Moving your room out while everyone else carries on living there.
London runs on shared houses, and a large share of moving in this city is one person leaving one room while everybody else stays put.
That is a specific kind of job. The hallway is shared, the front door is shared, and the people still living there did not sign up to have their Saturday taken over.
It also tends to happen at short notice, at the end of a tenancy, and with a load that is bigger than the person moving has estimated.
Working around a house that is still lived in
We protect the communal areas as a matter of course — the stairs and hallway belong to everyone in the house, and in a rented property damage there comes out of somebody’s deposit.
We work quietly and quickly and we do not spread the load across the shared space. Everything staged in your room or in the van, not stacked in the hall while housemates try to get past.
Be honest about the volume when you book. A room that has been lived in for two years holds far more than a room that has been lived in for three months, and the commonest mistake here is describing it from memory rather than looking.
