Five kinds of job
What we shift
All of them sit in the same awkward gap — more than a courier will take, less than a removals firm normally wants. Each has its own traps.
- 01 Marketplace collections Bought it, cannot shift it A sofa from Facebook Marketplace, four miles away, up two flights, today. First thing to check Get the seller’s postcode first — The floor and the lift decide the job more than the sofa does.
- 02 Single items One big thing A wardrobe, a piano stool, a fridge, a mattress — one object that needs two people and a van. First thing to check Blankets are not optional — A lone item in an empty van slides for the entire journey.
- 03 Room and flat-share moves One room, five housemates staying Moving your room out while everyone else carries on living there. First thing to check Communal areas get protected — In a rented house, damage to the hall comes out of a deposit.
- 04 Storage runs In, out, or between Moving things into a unit, pulling them back out, or shifting between facilities. First thing to check Check the real access hours — The loading bay often closes before the building does.
- 05 First flats and small moves Not a lorry job Moving out of a parent’s house, or into your first place, with a bed and not much else. First thing to check If a car will do it, use a car — We will tell you when you do not need us.
And the ordinary stuff
Full flat moves, house moves, office bits, tip and charity runs, and helping somebody shift a garage. All across London, all with the same van and the same two people. These five pages exist because they are the jobs people most often cannot find anyone sensible for.
