First flats and small moves
Moving out of a parent’s house, or into your first place, with a bed and not much else.
A first flat is rarely a full lorry. It is a bed, a desk, a chair, some boxes, and usually a car boot’s worth of things that came from a parent’s loft.
That does not mean it deserves less care. It means it needs the right size of van, two people who will not scuff the doorframes of a flat you have just taken a deposit on, and an honest conversation about whether you actually need a removals firm at all.
Quite often you do not, and we will say so.
The honest version
If you can fit it in a car and you have a friend with a car, do that. We are not going to pretend otherwise to take a booking. Where we earn our keep is the bed frame, the wardrobe, the sofa a relative is giving you, and anything that needs two people and a tail lift.
Right-sizing the van matters more here than anywhere. Book too big and you pay for space you do not fill; book too small and you are making two trips. Send photographs and we will tell you which van it is.
Protect the new place. New tenancies mean inventories and deposits, and a scraped doorframe on day one is a bad start. Runners and corner guards go down in a first flat exactly as they do in a family house.
If the move involves collecting things from two addresses — a bed from home, a sofa from Marketplace — say so at the quote. It is entirely doable and it changes the route.
