FAQ
The usual questions
Grouped by when people tend to ask them. If yours is not here, just ring.
Booking and sizing
How do I describe what I have got?
Photographs. Stand in the doorway of each room and take a picture. That tells us more in thirty seconds than a list does in ten minutes, and it is how we get the van size right first time.
How far ahead should I book?
For a weekday, often a couple of days is enough. Weekends, month-end and the last days of a tenancy fill up much further ahead, and end-of-tenancy dates in particular are worth booking as soon as you know them.
Can you do it today?
Sometimes, depending on where you are and what is on. Ring rather than emailing if the timescale is that short.
What if my stuff does not all fit?
That is what right-sizing is meant to prevent, which is why we ask for photographs. If it happens because the load was described smaller than it was, a second trip is the honest answer and it is charged as one.
On the job
Do you help carry, or just drive?
Carry. Two people who load, carry and unload is the whole point — if you only needed a vehicle you would hire one.
Do you bring blankets and straps?
Always, on every job including single items. Unrestrained loads move around and arrive marked.
Will you take apart furniture?
Simple flat-pack and bed frames, yes. Anything fitted, plumbed or wired in needs a trade — we will move a washing machine but we do not plumb it in or out.
What will you not take?
Anything hazardous — fuels, gas bottles, solvents. Living animals. And we will not take an item where the seller or occupier has not agreed to release it.
Access and buildings
My flat has no lift and I am on the fourth floor.
Then tell us before you book. It is completely doable and it takes longer and needs the crew sized for it. The thing that goes wrong is a job quoted as ground-floor turning out not to be.
Do you protect hallways?
Yes, and it matters most in shared and rented buildings where damage to a communal area comes out of somebody’s deposit.
Can you park outside?
It depends on the street. Red routes have no stopping at all during controlled hours, and much of inner London is a controlled parking zone. We check the street when you book rather than finding out on arrival.
What about storage facilities?
Check the real access hours — the loading bay often shuts before the building does — and make sure we are authorised in advance if you cannot be there. Most delays at storage sites are paperwork, not lifting.
Next step
Still not sure?
Ring and describe it. Two minutes on the phone usually settles what a page cannot.
